Need a darling caddy for your sewing space?  Join Carol on March 12th and 13th for Catch all Caddy 2.0.  This caddy is oversized and sturdy, with lots of easy-to-access slip pockets and dividers to hold and organize all your supplies. Six slip pockets on the exterior provide easy access to tools and supplies, and a zippered pocket on one end keeps personal items safe and secure. 

It’s travel time!!  Back by popular demand, we have the Ultimate Travel 2.0 Bag Class with Carol  on April 2nd.  This is a great travel bag featuring 8 pockets inside and out, including 2 that have zipper closures. Additional features include easy-to-grab handles, an adjustable padded shoulder strap, and a back strap to secure a rolling suitcase. Buttons on the bottom of the bag help reduce wear and tear. Additionally, this bag is one of our Runway at The Ridge projects.

Carol’s new embroidery class is just darling.  Carol will walk you through Sew Necessary by Patch Abilities. Whether you are new to appliqué embroidery in the hoop or need a sweet gift for your sewing friend, this is the class for you! This 6” by 12” mini quilt features a sewing tomato pincushion, tape measure, and a stack of colorful fabrics. In class, you will use a fusible appliqué technique, a little bit of sewing, and a little bit of embroidery to complete the project. This is a great project for beginners or anyone who would like to brush up on their machine embroidery skills. 

Elisa and Rhoda have been extremely busy planning projects and classes for 2024.  March 8th is a sensational class with Serger Savvy Class - Creating Decorative Stitches with Your Serger. Remember, we welcome all makes and models of sergers. In this class, we will offer a deeper dive into creating decorative stitches with your serger to really experiment and explore your creativity. Many techniques will be discussed, including thread blending and stitch stacking using a new tool that allows you to load as many thread spools onto your serger as your loopers will allow. In addition, they will talk more in depth about threads and what to use to get the looks you want. You will make several samples to audition threads and try out new techniques. You will walk away with stitch set-up instructions and samples for future reference. Grab all those decorative threads, thick or thin, and come play!  

Elisa is also offering more of her wonderful fitting classes.  On April 5th, she will help you create a perfect fit with Let’s Ditto! Cassie Pant Class.  Say goodbye to paper patterns, pinning, chalking, and worrying about the right fit. Meet DITTO, the digital projection system that eliminates the frustration and errors of traditional paper patterns. In this class, you will get the chance to use Ditto and understand firsthand how it works and the impact of customizing patterns automatically for your specific body measurements.

Do you struggle with quilt bindings?  Joanne will shape you up with her Binding Boot Camp  Sergeant Hubbard is no pushover!  Binding is made easy in this class, in which you’ll receive a kit that includes two small quilts and the binding fabric for them. You will use these quilts to learn the process, so you don’t have to worry about messing up one of your own projects. In the first half of the class, we’ll go through all the steps of trimming and squaring the quilt and adding traditional binding. In the second half, you’ll learn how to attach binding completely by machine and add a splash of color at the same time. (This binding is NOT the backing brought to the front.)  Join this fun and productive class so you can become a binding pro!

Susan Pfaff is offering her monthly class, Sewing Savvy Block of the Month.  Join Susan and learn how to master your sewing machine’s features and functions! In this block-of-the-month series, you will create a fun nine-block crazy patch wall quilt while gaining skills that you will use in all of your sewing projects. You can also use your blocks as stand-alone mini-quilts, decorator pillows, tote bags, etc. Each month, you will learn multiple uses for featured sewing machine feet, decorative stitches, needles, specialty threads, and more! In the March class, you will focus on Corded Mini Piping, Sewing On Buttons, Decorative Tassels. Piped Applique, Sewing on Buttons By Machine, Sewing with Heavy Thread, Quilting with Rulers.All makes and models of machines are welcome!

Get ready for fun with Canvas!  Our good friend Tami Pfeil will be here with two awesome classes.  April 24th, Tami is teaching her Slub Canvas Tote Bag. Create this roomy tote that is perfect for all of your essentials. Use the Slub Canvas Tote in the car, take it to the pool, or tote your items for a class. This is super quick and easy to put together and is great for sewers of all skill levels.

The next day, April 25th, she pulls out the rugs!  Join us for the Holiday Floor Canvas Class.  Tami will introduce to you the concept of a quilted “floor canvas.”  That’s right….we are going to step outside the quilt fabric box and create a mini raw-edge appliqué quilt suitable for under foot!  Every holiday season needs some whimsy and these rugged and washable quilts for the floor fit the bill with utility value and grit to outlast their box-store counterparts. Whether you’re a seasoned quilting veteran, or a sewing newbie, a floor canvas is a terrific smaller-scale project to hone your basic sewing skills when working with heavier canvas fabrics. An “illustrate with thread” technique will also be introduced to embellish and add visual dimension to the appliqué pieces.  There will be plenty of canvas related tips and tricks along the way.

Are you ready for a Shop Hop?  We now have two  great hops rolled into one.  April 11th or 12th, join us for the new Gathering Stitches which is a combination of Quilting n Cuisine and Gathering Stitches. Tickets are on sale now, call 330-893-3359.  During the hop you will visit 6 of the local Amish Country Shops and receive a goody bag at your first stop.  After that, each shop will provide you with a surprise gift, a 20% coupon, a demo, and a sample of some great food. We will be vending at our favorite Quilt Show - the Original Sewing & Quilt Expo in Cleveland April 18, 19, and 20th. The show has returned to Cleveland and we are excited to be hosting the BERNINA of America booth as well as a full room of BERNINA Sit Down machines.
