Greetings to all! It’s been an exciting few weeks at the Ridge. We had a great time in steamy, beautiful Dallas, Texas, at BERNINA University 2023. Mike, Ellen, and I learned a lot and had a ton of fun! BERNINA is an amazing company, and we are so proud to be a part of it! This year we were honored as the #4 BERNINA Single-Store Dealer in the US. Thank you, and congratulations to our wonderful team. We would like to extend a huge thank you to our awesome customers for helping us earn this honor.

We just wrapped up our celebration of 38 years of Chestnut Ridge Sewing. It was a great event, and as always, we ended with a huge drawing. This year's grand prize was the BERNINA 790 Plus Machine. We are so excited for our winner Diane Jones from Coshocton, Ohio. She was extremely excited and so were we. We can’t wait to see all the new projects she will create with this beautiful machine. Her smile says it all! Thank you to everyone who came to our celebration. We hope you enjoyed your day.

Speaking of excitement, what will be coming in August, you ask? We start with the first All Ohio Shop Hop. Make a plan to hit the road! Discover and explore 60 shops and the special items they offer. Be inspired by what you find at the stores as well as your journey between stores. Take your time to enjoy the hospitality and beauty of Ohio. There’s no need to rush because you have TWO entire months - August AND September - to visit all the stores! The Runway is back on August 19th!

Runway at the Ridge was such a great hit that we are coming back with even more fun. Last year we introduced our own spin on the popular show Project Runway, and we’re taking it to the next level for 2023. We are thrilled that Fabric Designer and Artist ValentinaHarper.com will be joining us this year as a judge! Her fabric collection Pumpkin and Spice is being featured in the Quilting - Machine Piecing category, and Rainbow Garden is the featured fabric in the NEW Designer’s Choice category. There are SIX categories, and each one will have its own winner. There will also be a BEST of SHOW winner, with a prize package valued at over $700! Food will be served, and the BERNINA photo booth will be set up with props so you and your friends can make memories to last a lifetime.

Upcoming Classes & Events

August has even more great classes and events. Carol has a few great bag classes on the calendar. August 9th begins the two session class of By Annie Ultimate Travel Bag. This is the perfect bag for the travel season. It is a beautiful bag, and sewing it is a lot of fun.

Carol has another travel bag option, the By Annie Travel Duffel. This bag is awesome! It has an adjustable padded shoulder strap and double handles. There are 4 slip pockets and 2 zippered pockets on the outside plus 3 pockets inside to keep everything organized.

Also, being offered for our embroidery customers is the OESD Stitch Party. These are fun projects that will be completed in one day. This is great for anyone new to embroidery or just needing to brush up on your embroidery sewing skills. Carol and Amanda do a great job explaining the details of each project.

Elisa is offering a very useful and fun bag with her Mondo Bag With A Twist. If you have not taken a class with Eilsa Milano you are missing out. She has an amazing ability to create! You won't be disappointed.

Elisa and Rhoda will be presenting the Try Before You Buy Serger Class August 28th and 29th. This is a two day event that focuses on the new BERNINA L Series. You will complete a beautiful robe, plus sew out various Serger samples and techniques. The event includes the use of a BERNINA L890, all supplies, and two lunches. There will also be special event pricing and Demo Machine prices. Best of all, if you purchase a machine during the event, your entire fee is taken off the price of the machine! WOW!

Be sure to mark your calendar for the Ohio’s Amish Country Quilt Festival, Sept. 7-9, 2023. There will be over 30 vendors on site, and you don’t want to miss the classes from Charisma Horton, Featherweight Specialist Kathy Farra, award-winning Felice Dahlhausen, Gerald Schwab, Tami Pfeil, Deborah, the Barn Quilter Express, Amy Miller, and our very own Susan Pfaff and Elisa Milano. There will be two truck shows - Corey Yoder and Charisma Horton, as well as special quilt displays by Corey Yoder, Felice Dahlhausen, and Phillips Fiber Arts. Don't forget about the Log Cabin of Your Dreams Quilt Contest. There are cash prizes!

We have another Mini Shop Hop coming this fall. Join us for Gathering Stitches, September 21st and 22nd. Call or stop by to purchase your tickets. During this hop, you will visit six local Amish Country Shops. At each shop, you will receive drinks or donuts as well as see demos for sewing techniques, tools, or easy-to-make projects. Plus, receive a 20% discount plus a gift at each of the six stores
