The ladies did a fantastic job creating Sue’s newest pattern The Tabitha Tote. We were so excited to have her here to demo and display all her wonderful tools, notions and patterns. Plus, you can apply the cost of the event ($79.00) to the purchase of your new or demo L8 Series machine. June is full of fun classes for everyone. We start the month with the June Sit N Sew. We have a full line up of teachers to monitor the progress and keep you motivated. There is so much getting done during these events. It’s great to see the projects that are being pulled out and finished up. So grab your UFO’s and come join the fun. As you know, we are big fans of Janine Babich Designs. We carry every one of her designs in the store and also online in our EBay Shop. Join Carol for her Janine Babich Wall Hanging class in which you choose from a variety of patterns and let her take you from start to finish. Learn all of Janine’s wonderful techniques, including how to machine finish all those wonderful five sided banners. Do you have BERNINA Software you would like to master? Karen Stewart is here to help. Karen has classes on June 23rd. Her Designer Plus Embroidery Software 9.0 & V8 Beginners Class will introduce and review the basics of the software. You will complete the lessons in the workbook, and by the end of the class you will have a good understanding of how to get started on your creative journey. If you are more advanced and have completed the Beginners Class, Karen is also offering an afternoon session of the BERNINA Software for V9 & V8 Advanced Class. This is a continuation of the Beginners Session and you will dive deeper into how to use the software more effectively. These classes are free to anyone who purchased or received the software from Chestnut Ridge. ($20 if software purchased elsewhere) Susan Pfaff and her participants are doing a wonderful job with the Sewing Savvy Block of the Month and we love seeing their creations each month. You can join at any time! This month the block will include piping, which can add a spectacular finishing touch to any sewing projects. We will also experiment with different types and sizes of piping and the best accessory feet to achieve beautiful results. We’ll be embellishing with chenille which is another easy and fun technique to add pizzazz to your sewing and quilting projects. Speaking of piping, be sure to stop by and pick up your June Foot of the Month - the BERNINA Piping Foot #38 for a 25% savings. There are many uses for this foot such as attaching narrow to medium-width piping, sewing on thick or thin ribbon and hook & loop tapes. The foot is available in both 5.5 or 9 mm. In terms of classes, we end the month with a truly fun and creative project! Join Maribeth Shreve as she guides you through the process of creating a variety of Fabric Wrapped Rope Bowls and Coasters. In this class you will learn how to join the rope, add fabric, cork, etc. to the inside bottom, and how to finish with handles and other embellishments. If you are not a member of the Friends of Chestnut Ridge Private Facebook Group, now is the time to join. Joanne will be introducing the next Sew Along soon and it is going to be awesome! We’ll be using the Alaska Ruler which was designed by Edyta Sitar of Laundry Basket Quilts. As with every Friends Sew Along, there will be a variety of quilts and projects options from which to choose and lots to learn. Stay tuned for more information. Have you signed up to participate in the Runway to the Ridge Event? Registration is open! This is a Red Carpet affair with a runway set up for participants to “Strut Their Creative Stuff”. There is a choice of five categories in which to compete - quilting, machine quilting, machine embroidery, apparel, and bags/accessories. Prizes will be awarded for each category, as well as a Best of Show prize package valued at over $600!!! Within each category, entrants will be provided a specific pattern, ruler, fabric, or embroidery collection and must create a project within a set of predetermined parameters, such as size and other key metrics. Judging will be based on workmanship, visual impact, overall appearance, and creativity. We will have a celebrity panel of judges that you won’t want to miss. If you want to be part of the fun but don’t want to compete, tickets are available to be part of an interactive audience. Besides viewing the amazing projects, The Audience will be voting for the Best of Show winner!
