Project: Fast Fun Placemats

These placemats are made with Soft and Stable by Annie and 2.5 inch width strips of fabric. The ever popular flip and sew method will make fast work of these placemats. You will want to make a set for every season or occasion.


  • Soft and Stable (package 36” x 58” to make four)

  • 2 ½ inch wide strips of fabric (use precuts or cut your own)

  • 4 fat quarters for backing

  • Sewline Styla (water erasable fabric marker)

  • Patchwork Foot

  • #97D

  • 505 Temporary Spray Adhesive

  • Aurifil Thread (to match project), rotary cutter, mat and ruler


Embroidery: Free-arm Embroidery

Learn to use the BERNINA embroidery machine’s free-arm, which provides you with more space when embroidering projects that are not flat. It makes it easier to create great looking embroidery even on a project with “shape” and can be used with several BERNINA hoop sizes.

Learn how easy it is to add an invisible zipper to any project. Using the Invisible Zipper Foot #35 and a straight stitch, we will create a small bag, showing you how to quickly add that professional look of an invisible zipper!


  • Invisible Zipper Foot #35

  • Construction thread to match fabric - needle and bobbin

  • Two 5” x 10” rectangles - fabric of choice

  • Two 5” x 10” rectangles interfacing, fused to the two 5”x10” fabric of choice

  • 7” to 9” invisible zipper

  • 4” x 14” Quilting Ruler

  • Fabric Chalk Marker

  • Wonder Clips

  • Scissors

  • If you have a serger, serge the edges of each piece to prevent raveling.
