In this block-of-the-month series, you will create a fun nine-block crazy patch wall quilt while gaining skills that you can use in all of your sewing projects. The Myrna Bag is the enlarged version of the Zippy Crossbody Bag Pattern. So many Zippy Bag fans have been requesting a larger size and Myrna is the perfect size for traveling or everyday use. You’ll be surprised how much you can fit inside this bag! The exterior of this wonderful bag can be made with quilting cotton, canvas, denim, or linen with contrasting cotton fabric, denim, canvas, linen, cork or faux leather. Mastering Modern Tailoring Class (Three-Session Class)
In this three-session class, Elisa will teach a more modern technique of tailoring…. speed tailoring. Using a combination of light and medium weight interfacing and various seam tapes, this method creates the structure and look we want in a well-made garment. We will add structure to the chest and shoulders by layering interfacing. Welted pockets will be featured and demonstrated to get the results you want. We will stack and set-in sleeves and spend time setting the roll of the lapels and collar. You will enjoy this method and find it is NOT time consuming or frustrating. It is straight forward and can be applied to any jacket or coat you make in the future. We will work step by step together resulting in a garment that you can be proud to wear and will cherish.

Dancing Diamonds Gem Bag
If you have a stash of fabric and like to make bags, this class is for you!!! You will be creating a bag that features a diamond pattern and is easy and fun to make. It is guaranteed to be addicting and you will be making many others as a result. The process is simple and allows you to let your creativity flow. Bring strips from your stash that range from 1-3” wide and you will arrange them in a way that is unique and pleasing. The result will be a one-of-a-kind pattern made by YOU!!!
Techniques used include sewing basic strip sets, cutting the strip sets into 60 degree diamonds and rearranging them onto an interfaced piece. You will also be quilting and attaching binding to your pieces and finishing by adding attractive grommets to attach carrying straps.

The Smaller Card Embroidery Class with Carol
Sometimes you just need a small card to accompany a gift. Here it is! It measures 4”x 5½” and will use smaller embroidery designs (approximately 2”x 3½”) and therefore, it will take less time to stitch! The Sentimentally Yours Card Class is all about the written sentiments on the front of all-occasion greeting cards! Donna Rauff has digitized 90 plus words that you can choose to make over 180 sentiments for your cards. You can arrange them where you have the space on your card. In class we are going to let the words be the focal point of our cards, but you certainly can use them on any kind of card with an embroidered picture design as well. In addition to the 90 plus words, you will receive 3 new template borders, 3 new quilt fills, and 3 applique shapes.

BERNINA Boot Camp with Sylvain Bergeron
Event Description:
Get ready to master your machine! In this 4-day class we go beyond the basics for an in-depth training into your machine. This event has 3 days of sewing and 1 day of embroidery, Learn some of the key features that make a BERNINA special, all while visiting a series of basic sewing techniques - from calibrating the seam to using the features on your machine that let you focus on your project. In the end, you’ll have a series of building blocks that you can apply to your various sewing projects, all with the confidence that you now have mastery of your machine. This class requires that you bring your BERNINA machine or rent one at Chestnut Ridge. BERNINA machines can be rented for the 4-day event for $45. This event is for 5 series and up.
Who is Sylvain?
Sylvain Bergeron is an Educator with BERNINA of America. He came to sewing through garment making and sewing projects for the home. He has since become a quilter, developing all-over thread designs with embroidery software and creating digital wall paintings quilts. He was the first ever recipient of the Master Award for Thread Artistry at IQF Houston. He is self-described as a thread junkie.

Binding Boot Camp
Do you have a stack of quilts that need to be bound, but you aren’t sure how to do it? Perhaps you’ve bound quilts but weren’t happy with the results. If that’s the case, this class is for you! Binding is made easy in this class in which you’ll receive two kits that include binding strips and a small quilt on which to work so you don’t have to worry about messing up one of your own projects. In the first half of the class, we’ll go through all the steps of trimming and squaring the quilt and adding traditional binding. In the second half, you’ll learn how to attach binding completely by machine and add a splash of color at the same time. (This binding is NOT the backing brought to the front.) Join this fun and productive class so you can become a binding pro!

Binding Boot Camp 2- Beyond Basic Training
Now that you’ve mastered the basic binding technique, it’s time to get serious and join the elite group of quilters who effortlessly bind projects with irregular angles, scallops, and even circles. In this class you will learn how to add binding to quilt edges that have irregular angles and get nice looking points on both the inside and outside angles. We will also take the mystery out of bias binding and learn two methods of making bias binding - continuous and traditional, and when to use each one. So you don’t have to worry about messing up one of your own projects, you’ll receive two kits to learn these techniques. Join us for this fun and productive class so you can take your binding to the next level and add that extra punch of spectacular to your quilts.

The All Ohio Shop Hop brings together sewing and quilting enthusiasts from across Ohio and neighboring states. The event will run August 1 through September 30 in 2024. The All Ohio Shop Hop Magazine is your guide to all things about the event, participating stores and sponsors. The Magazine also includes valuable patterns, projects and articles along with the official passport and map. Each participating store offers the exclusive Shop Hop fabric and fun give-aways. Participants have their passport stamped at each store they visit to qualify for additional prizes.

Bloom & Grow- Serger Quilt Sew Along (FOUR-SESSION CLASS)
This sew-along is focused on Amanda Murphy’s newest quilt pattern, Bloom & Grow. This is a SERGER QUILT. 100% of the piecing and applique will be done using your serger. Together we will work in 4 separate sessions to complete the project, breaking it up so that we can assist you every step of the way. The quilt includes overlocker AND coverstitching and was designed with a BERNINA L890 in mind.
Please note:
Other serger brands are welcome; however, we are familiar with BERNINA machines and can assist you if needed. If bringing another brand, please be familiar with how to thread your machine. We suggest you bring an owner’s manual and all accessories with you to class.

Holiday Sentiments Card Class with Carol
Holiday Sentiments is all about helping you with the written sentiments on all the major holiday cards you create throughout the year. In this class you have a huge “bank” of digitized words to mix and match to create what you want your card to say. In other words, you build your own sentiment. Because these words are all separate, you can arrange them in a pleasing manner wherever they will fit on your particular card. This allows you more freedom! This class includes your card kit, list of the words, in alphabetical order, a PDF of the written instructions, and a list of the 180 sentiments Donna has developed. Your card making options are endless!

In this series of classes students will learn techniques they will need to be able to accomplish everyday digitizing projects. We will learn the proper alignment of designs and focus primarily on manual digitizing. By the end of class students should be able to digitize logos and drawings.
This is a digitizing/embroidery class. In this class we will embroider the design we have digitized for our final project. Please bring your computer so we can take a final look at your design before we start. Please bring your embroidery machine and Large Oval (6x10) hoop. Bring tear away stabilizer and needles. Prepared fabric and thread will be provided.

General Class Description:
Now that you’ve mastered the basic binding technique, it’s time to get serious and join the elite group of quilters who effortlessly bind projects with irregular angles, scallops, and even circles. In this class you will learn how to add binding to quilt edges that have irregular angles and get nice looking points on both the inside and outside angles. We will also take the mystery out of bias binding and learn two methods of making bias binding - continuous and traditional, and when to use each one. Holiday Floor Canvas with Tami Pfeil
Do you find that box store throw rugs always seem to fall short for specific interior space dimensions and that they also notoriously fall apart after a few washings...if they can be machine washed at all?!! The frustration is over! Tami Pfeil will introduce to you the concept of a quilted “floor canvas.” That’s right….we are going to step outside the quilt fabric box and create a mini raw-edge appliqué quilt suitable for under foot! Every holiday season needs some whimsy and these rugged and washable quilts for the floor fit the bill with utility value and grit to outlast their box-store counterparts.
Whether you’re a seasoned quilting veteran, or a sewing newbie, a floor canvas is a terrific smaller-scale project to hone your basic sewing skills when working with heavier canvas fabrics. Whether you are new to appliqué embroidery in the hoop or need a sweet gift for your sewing friend, this is the class for you! This 6 inch by 12 inch mini quilt features a sewing tomato pincushion, tape measure, and a stack of colorful fabrics. Art & Stitch Basics
This two-day class is for beginners learning to use Art & Stitch 101 to advance their ability to do custom quilting. Skills to be covered include navigating the Art & Stitch desktop, exploring the Library of Designs that are included, creating basic designs and turning them into Edge to Edge quilting. You will learn how to draw with Art & Stitch to create quilting designs from background pictures and how to use the “magics” to create quilting inside of blocks. Explore using Q-matic markers with Art & Stitch to precisely position quilting within a block and how to use Creative Fills to quilt around embroidered designs and appliques, or inside negative space.

Binding Boot Camp
Do you have a stack of quilts that need to be bound but you aren’t sure how to do it? Perhaps you’ve bound quilts but weren’t happy with the results. If that’s the case, this class is for you! Binding is made easy in this class in which you’ll receive a kit that includes two small quilts and the binding fabric for them. You will use these quilts to learn the process so you don’t have to worry about messing up one of your own projects. In the first half of the class, we’ll go through all the steps of trimming and squaring the quilt and adding traditional binding. In the second half, you’ll learn how to attach binding completely by machine and add a splash of color at the same time. (This binding is NOT the backing brought to the front.) Join this fun and productive class so you can become a binding pro!

In this block-of-the-month series, you will create a fun nine-block crazy patch wall quilt while gaining skills that you will use in all of your sewing projects. Each month, you will learn multiple uses for featured sewing machine feet, decorative stitches, needles, specialty threads, and more! Serger Savvy Class - Creating Decorative Stitches with your Serger
In this class we will offer a deeper dive into creating decorative stitches with your serger to really experiment and explore your creativity. Many techniques will be discussed including thread blending and stitch stacking using a new tool that allows you to load as many thread spools onto your serger as your loopers will allow. In addition, we will talk in more depth about threads to use and weights to get the looks you want. We will make several samples to audition threads and try out new techniques. You will walk away with stitch set-up instructions and samples for future reference.

Kimberbell Clear Blue Tiles Class with Carol
Kimberbell Clear Blue Tiles are a complete system for quilting using your home embroidery machine. The stitching goes through all three layers of a quilt sandwich (back fabric, batting, and top fabric), with traditional, continuous quilting on both sides of your project. Plus, you can quilt borders and cornerstones using the tiles. In this class, you will bring a small pieced project of your choosing, (table topper, placemats, a small wall hanging, or baby quilt) and Carol will walk you through the steps to achieve the look of custom quilting on your project.
